Phase 1: Consultation, Assessment and Planning

Initial Consultation

Your first consultation will be held at Coppertop Dental Surgery in Camberley, Surrey. Engage in a comprehensive discussion with our experienced dentist with special interest in implants, Dr Pretam Gharat, regarding your dental concerns, preferences, and potential solutions. We also encourage questions to ensure you are well-informed about the All-on-4 procedure and our team before going ahead.

During the examination, Dr Pretam Gharat will assess your remaining teeth and gums, capturing photographs to evaluate whether same-day dental implants are optimal. At Coppertop Dental Surgery, we understand dental anxiety and prioritise your comfort. Our aim is to restore smiles and boost confidence by addressing various reasons for needing implants. Explore our independently verified patient reviews for reassurance.

Following the initial consultation, if you and Dr Pretam Gharat agree on the suitability of All-on-4 dental implants, the next stage involves a computerised CBCT scan. This detailed X-ray provides our implant team with precise images of your jaws and teeth, allowing us to analyse bone quantity, location, and quality beneath the gums. This step confirms your candidacy for All-on-4 dental implants. Notably, our implants are often suitable for individuals with severe gum disease and jawbone loss, eliminating the need for bone graft surgery. In cases where All-on-4 is not deemed suitable, alternative solutions will be discussed.

Once you’ve committed to the All-on-4 dental implant procedure, we will schedule your surgery, prioritising your preferred timings. Appointments for pre and post-surgery, such as impression-taking, are also coordinated. Regular communication ensures your reassurance and full awareness of each stage. If needed, we will liaise with your doctor or dentist for seamless care. Prior to the procedure, a virtual surgery is conducted, including a 3D model of your jawbone for meticulous planning. Our thorough preparations aim to provide you with absolute peace of mind throughout the process.

Phase 2: Surgery Day

At the surgical appointment, All-on-4 Dental Implants are swiftly placed to restore your smile and confidence within hours. Dr Pretam Gharat will remove any remaining teeth and inserts implants, which serve as stable roots for new artificial teeth. On the same day, you’ll receive fixed, natural-looking provisional teeth for immediate aesthetics. If you choose sedation, we recommend bringing a companion to accompany you home post-surgery.

The All-on-4 Dental Implant surgery begins with optional sedation for a pain-free experience, accompanied by gentle numbing. Most patients opt for conscious sedation, ensuring a relaxed and comfortable state akin to a dream. You’ll remain awake, often with no memory of the procedure. Administered by our skilled anaesthetists, conscious sedation is secure and free from common risks associated with general anaesthesia. Choosing not to undergo sedation doesn’t compromise the pain-free nature of the implant placement procedure.

Implant Placement

Typically, we place four implants in each jaw, employing the All-on-4 technique. Each implant is strategically angled to optimise available bone, ensuring a precise fit and optimal stability for the custom artificial teeth bridge. Our advanced dental implant system incorporates a built-in angle, enhancing the foundation for your new replacement teeth with added strength.

New Teeth Placement

After your dental implant surgery, meticulous measurements are taken, and our skilled laboratory technicians craft your personalised teeth while you relax. Crafted on the treatment day for customised excellence, these replacement teeth not only enhance your appearance but also restore bite and chewing function, aiding in the healing process. Dr Pretam Gharat securely places and supports your new teeth with the dental implants, allowing you to admire your stunning new smile in the mirror for the first time!

Take-Home Implant Care Kit

Upon departure, our team will provide a personalised implant care kit, featuring essential medications and oral hygiene items. Comprehensive instructions, including post-care expectations, are included. Our after-hours telephone numbers are available for any questions or concerns.

Phase 3: Healing

After the surgery, your new teeth will stay securely in place day and night as your bone integrates with the implants. Around three months later, we will replace them with your permanent set during a non-surgical appointment. Taking care of your implants and new teeth is simple. It’s crucial to adhere to dietary recommendations and maintain proper oral hygiene in the initial two months for successful implant healing. Rest assured, we’ll provide all the necessary information and advice you require.

A Happy Patient’s Story

“After years of playing football and rugby as a youth into my early twenties, my teeth took some knocks. Admittedly, I didn’t look after them as well as I could have either.

Over the last ten years I began to lose more of my upper teeth and eventually I had 2 left. I did get some dentures, which I never found comfortable but over the years the loss of teeth had a profound effect on my confidence and even simply what I could eat. I had to investigate implants.

Was I nervous, yes! I need not have been. The team at Coppertop Dental Surgery, Dr Pretam Gharat and his team (the specialist) were all great throughout the whole process. I won’t lie, the procedure isn’t comfortable, more so for the next week or so.

You have had surgery on your mouth after all, but it does heel, the pain goes away and it’s simply a game changer for me. I have been able to eat apples and nuts for the first time in 20 years without worrying about breaking a tooth.

The personal confidence is just as significant. To be able to smile again without thinking about it! It’s expensive, but worth every penny in my opinion.

I cannot recommend doing this enough if you can, the whole team are there with you throughout. I will get the bottom teeth done next!”
